You say that the idle control dose nothing, the idle control, when on should do nothing unless there is a load placed on the unit, then it should automaticly kick the rpms up so there is power to run what ever is attached, when it is turned off it will kick up the rpms and stay high whether there is something on or not, and is usually used when somthing like a comprssor that will take a large pull and posably stop the generator before it has time to ramp up.
